Hey guys! Emanuel Embaixador and I are back in Brazil this time starting off our trip in Rio De Janeiro to check out the famous Carnival and of course get some skim. We linked up with our good friend, Marcos Casteluber for some Brazilian knowledge for the trip.
The first place we went to skim was at a beach called Vidigal, which was a very cool place, kind of hidden just next to Ipanema. The session started off not too good, the tide was a bit too high and conditions were troughy. But as the tide dropped out the waves became better and better and it turned out to be a really fun session, starting our trip off great. The next day we took it easy because we were going to the see the famous Samba schools of Carnival. The show/parade was amazing full of thousands of dancers, huge moving floats, and some of the most amazing costumes in the world. Definitely something to see at least once in a lifetime.
The next afternoon we linked up with Thiago Zakhour, a skimboarder from Macumba, and headed to a beach called Itacoatiara. It was about and hour and a half from were we were staying but well worth the drive. During the summer here the skim is amazing. Typically known as a paradise for body boarding as well. We arrived just before in the evening and the waves were very powerful and fun. Now we are headed down south of Brazil, to Florianopolis to find some new skim spots. Florianopolis is typically a surf location, known as the Hawaii of Brazil. We are looking to travel around the area in search for some heavy shore break. Check out the photos from part 1 of our trip below and we will be keeping you guess updated on out adventures. Enjoy
