Benji Lucas has been on the Zap team longer then most of you have been skimboarding. You may not see him at the contests but we can assure you his smooth style and skill is like no other. If you have a chance to skim with this guy you won’t forget it. He is pretty tough to catch in the water these days but we managed to get a quick interview. Years skimboarding with Zap?
10 years.
What model board do you ride and why?
Large Boomhower – 3/4″ – Non-tapered with minimal rocker. It gives me the most float, speed, and best planing abilities. It does sacrifice some maneuverability however.
What have you been up to this past year?
Working and pursuing some passionate things; such as film acting.
Attending any contest this year?
I will be at Vilano this August.
Heard you have an upcoming skim video project?
I am working with Joe Perales of Countergrind Productions to put together a nice little mini-video of a handful of sessions here on Florida’s East Coast.
Any interesting facts about yourself?
I own a 4-foot lizard that sleeps in my pillow.
