Friends of Zap || Meet Tchon from Africa
International team manager and rider Emanuel “Mega” Embaixador has been traveling all over the world over the past year. Along the way he has met some awesome people. Here he interview’s our buddy Tchon from Africa who has been ripping it up on our M5 Shape. Check out the interview below.

Name, age and where you come from?
My name is Jailsom Cesar dos Santos “Tchon”, I am 29 years old and I live in Cape Verde, Africa. The name of island where I live is Ilha do Sal and my home break is Santa Maria.
When did you start skimming?
I started skimming 8 years ago here in Santa Maria with my friends.
What board are you riding now?
I ride a Zap M5 and I love a lot. I used to skim on a wood board because here we don’t have many good boards yet. We need to wait till some skimmers visit us to have new boards.
What is your dream spot?
I would love to skim in Brasil, California, and Portugal.
Are there many skimboarders in Cape Verde?
Yes, a lot of kids and every year more and more. And also the tourists are having lessons from us.
Tourists or just tourists girls? Judging by your pics… lool
More like European girls ahaha.
What keeps you stoked?
Skimming good waves with friends.

Nome, idade e de onde vens?
O meu nome é Jailsom Cesar dos Santos “Tchon”, tenho 29 anos e sou da Ilha do Sal, Cabo Verde. Local da Praia de Santa Maria.
Quando começas a fazer skim?
Começei a skimar há 8 anos atrás aqui em Santa Maria com os meus amigos.
Que prancha usas agora?
Estou a usar uma Zap M5 que adoro! eu skimei sempre com uma prancha de madeira, porque aqui não temos ainda muito acesso a pranchas de foam, somente quando alguns estrangeiros nos visitam e trazem pranchas novas.
Qual o teu spot de sonho?
Eu gostava de ir a California, Brasil e Portugal.
Existem muitos skimboarders em Cabo Verde?
Sim, existem muitos e ano após ano vão aparecendo mais atletas. E os turistas também vêm ter aulas connosco.

Sim, mais meninas europeias haha.
O que te mantem motivado?
Fazer skim em boas ondas com os meus amigos.
