    Ride Nature

    Words from Rider Nature.

Another day in the life of Ride Nature…..

Ride Nature is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was founded to bring board sports and the Truth to children living in poverty around the world. We just recently returned from one of our 4 annual international trips around the world to bring boards to kids in need!

On August 20th, 2011 we had the of hosting the FIRST EVER skimboard contest in the entire country of Nicaragua. Situated about 3 hours South of the Nicaragua capitol we were in the beautiful city of San Juan Del Sur. Skimboarding is definitely a foreign sport the the people of Nicaragua and many of them have never even seen a skimboard, let alone knew how to ride one! When we had decided to host a skim contest we weren’t sure what to expect. As the time got closer to when the contest was going to start we were still unsure if we were going to have ANY contestants. With a little encouragement and motivation for some of the local surfer kids….we rallied up 20 guys compete and 5 girls! It was a blast to watch many of them skimboard for the very first time. As we were helping to toss the board for many of them, it was hilarious to watch the kids chase after it. With a hand full of boards that were donated by Zap for this very purpose, we opted out of giving them away to each individual kid for the fear that the boards may get sold or stolen. Instead…..one of the well trusted local surfers in the community, and few actual skimboarders stepped up to the plate to commit to a new outreach we never expected…..A SKIMBOARD CLUB! With the support from Zap and our awesome friend Luis Granja, and his new founded ministry, “Skimboard Nicaragua”, children from the entire community are being given the opportunity to skimboard every single Sunday afternoon!

Each Sunday, Luis is leading a group of kids from the community to church, and afterwards they head to the beach for an afternoon of skimboarding.
