Where: Nokomis Beach, FL
Zap Skimboards, Compound Boardshop, and Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources present Spring Fling Skim Jam. This event is designed to educate and teach the next generation of watersports athletes as well as showcase local pro riders and encourage up and coming talent.
Skim jam is an all day event comprised of a kid's clinic, "just for fun" contest, awards ceremony, and after-party. Held at Nokomis Beach and plaza, we'll have prizes, raffles and a family friendly atmosphere focused on teaching and community!
There are two parts to the registration, one for the skim clinic and one for the Just for Fun contest. The Skim Clinic is free to the public and if you want to enter the contest the fee is A$34. We made the following divisions and some guidelines to where you might fall:
- Groms (12 & Under): ALL kids 12 & under are delegated to this division.
- Getting my feet wet: Rider is beginning to try shuvs and practicing surface spin tricks along beach. Rider is just learning the basics and is progressing towards riding a wave.
- I am Good: Rider is learning wave riding and has learned how to do airs. Rider has shuvs down and can possibly land a 3 shuv every now and then.
- I am going Pro tomorrow: Rider excels in advanced riding. 3 shuvs, big spins, 5 big spins, wave riding, airs, and bigger maneuvers can be expected.
