Back in March we held a Just for Fun event in our hometown of Nokomis Beach, FL. The day started out with a free skim clinic where we had close to 75 participants ranging from beginners to experienced riders. We had some of the best counselors come out for the event with John Akerman, Cole Hutchinson, Jared Dugan, Jason Wilson, Naji Taha, Benny Ray, and ET Beaugrand. There definitely was nothing but smiles to be seen around the beach with this crew at the helm.
After the Skim Clinic, we moved into the Just for Fun skim contest. It was our first year incorporating a contest into the day and it ran relatively smooth. The heats were condensed to save time as we had to finish by a certain hour but it made for a fast paced heats with lots of action. The four divisions were Groms, Getting My Feet Wet, I am Good, and I am Going Pro Tomorrow. It was a lot of fun to see the progression with a lot of riders that participated in the skim clinic to the contest portion. The little bit of coaching a lot of the riders received in the morning you could see coming out in full display during the contest portion.
